Do you want an authentic piece of Icelandic Legend? Come ride Frosti, you will never ride the same again! His tolt is amazingly fast and smooth. He is a willing partner, sensitive to cues, very intelligent, expressive and personable. Quick to bond to an honest, fair, gentle, and thoughtful handler.

He is a natural tolter, with tolt being his gait of choice under saddle, yet he has a strong, powerful, two beat trot as well that is simply breathtaking. He isn't a high stepping show horse, but he is in ultra smooth mode all the time, no matter who is on his back, going uphill, level and down. He never paces. He isn't always begging for speed. In fact, his personality is more of an "expend as little energy as possible" type, but he has plenty of power and speed when called upon, and it is at the tip of your fingers. His gait is amazing. Just shift your weight ever so slightly in the saddle, and he'll step it up to the smoothest glide ride you'll ever feel. He is the type of horse that "reads your mind", and requires only the slightest cues from his rider. Speed-wise, he can out do all the "big" gaited horses he's been ridden with. His previous owner, Heather Jackson, said that he is THE SMOOTHEST horse she had ever ridden (out of MANY gaited horses) and covers alot of ground. SO fun to ride! He is a once in a lifetime horse for the right person.

If you're looking for the type of horse that is the bombproof type that you can pull out of the pasture, hop on and go, that won't react to anything, then Frosti is NOT your horse. However, if you're looking for that once in a life time best friend, a horse who is alive, alert and very expressive in a super heart touching way, then Frosti is your man. He is the most open and loving horse, and will stand there and give his person hugs for hours, very gentle. He honestly enjoys working with people he trusts, humans are not a nuisance to him, but he fears being handled roughly or unfairly.

If you are a confident rider looking for a powerful horse to give you the ride of your life.. then keep reading! He is intense, and stirs something inside of you. You will feel like you really do own an amazing, resillient, and proud piece of Icelandic History. This horse can read you from the inside out, there is no lying to him. He is never, ever mean.. but he can be nervous. However, with a person he trusts, he can also be a reliable, ultra fun mount to go zooming all over the trails, mountain, hillside, etc... with. He is a strong horse that can carry any rider (the man in some of the pictures is a 200+ lb man).

I was told that he was probably a pace racer in Iceland, and a horse anyone could ride. However, here in the states he is too much horse for the average rider. He can really move, however he is down to business and goes anywhere his rider points him. He can slow walk if you ask him too, though at the beginning of a ride he likes to move out, and you won't ride a smoother gait which can really cover ground.

He has been ridden on pack trips in the mountains, herded cattle, been ridden in the arena and on trails. He has excellent hooves and goes barefoot. Great with the farrier, vet, loading, etc... Excellent ground manners. He gives to the bit and is used to leg pressure. He is a very fun horse to train since he is so eager to please. and he interacts very intricately with his owner. He is not barn or buddy sour (could care less about other horses), rides in the front, middle or rear and doesn't mind being alone, or allowing the other horses to go ahead.

He is a sensitive horse and requires a sensitive rider who is thoughtful, experienced, and gentle. He will not allow himself to be bullied or cowboyed. He is very powerful, and his ability to really move (particularliy if he gets startled), is too much for most people. He doesn't startle like this often, probably once every couple years (and probably never with the right, confident rider), but he needs a rider who isn't concerned about it. If you are nervous at all, he can feel it, and it will make him cautious because he looks to you as his leader. Frosti is a one person horse, as consistancy is important to him. I think it would be hard for him to have many different riders with different riding styles. He wants to obey your cues so badly, that it will fluster him if he doesn't understand what you're asking. Thus, having his "one person" who rides the same way every time would be his dream situation.

Everyone who has owned him has fallen deeply in love with this horse. He is not a spooky horse. In fact, many of the things that would scare other horses, Frosti will cock an ear towards and then go on his way. However, if some unexpected event occurs (almost getting run over by a UPS truck for instance), then his natural reaction is to run away from it - and run he does! He doesn't loose his head, but will run as far as he thinks is necessary (usually only a few strides.. but not always).

However, that being said, I should also back that up with the fact that when one of his previous trainers, Ole Lindgren in Utah, had him in his care - Ole broke his leg and said that out of the MANY horses he had at the time, Frosti was the only one he trusted to ride while his leg was healing. He rode Frosti to round up the cattle, and on super tough mountain rides which would kill you if your horse made a wrong move. He loved Frosti. You can contact him at (435)624-3334 - tell him you're asking about The big white Icelandic Gelding, Frosti, that he trained for Heather Jackson.

Frosti was imported from Iceland in 1998 and his bloodlines are excellent, a son of the 14+ hand, first prize, 5 gaited stallion, Gođi fra Sauđárkróki, who is out of the great honor prize stallion, Ţáttur fra Kirkjubć and the black pinto, first prize mare, Hervör frá Sauđárkróki. Frosti's dam is the second prize, 14+ hand, 5 gaited, grey/dun mare, Ţoka fra Bálkastöđum ytri.

This boy is an awesome, stunning animal with whom I feel very blessed to have shared part of my life!
